New President Elected for the National Federation of Private and Cooperative Higher Education

APESP notes with satisfaction the return to activity of the National Federation of Private and Cooperative Higher Education (FNESPC). Rui Morais, president of the Student Association of the Instituto Superior Miguel Torga (ISMT) in Coimbra, is the new president of the board of this federation. The election took place on May 16th, at ISTEC Lisbon. FNESPC, which had been inactive since 2022, represents 65 academic and student associations from private higher education institutions across the country. The new president identified the revision of the Legal Framework for Higher Education Institutions (RJIES) as the main priority of his mandate. For Rui Morais, a correction to the existing structural imbalances is necessary, aligning the regime with the constitutional principles of equality, freedom of education, and non-discrimination.
