Visit of the Ambassador of Guinea-Bissau to Portugal

APESP received at its headquarters the Ambassador of Guinea-Bissau to Portugal, Augusto Artur António da Silva, a personality with a distinguished academic and political career, who served as Minister of Fisheries, Defence, Education, Culture, Science, Youth and Sports, Foreign Affairs, and Prime Minister of Guinea-Bissau.

Among other topics of common interest, the relevance of an understanding with the Government of Guinea-Bissau was highlighted, aimed at the development of higher education in that country and, in particular, at reinforcing the training of trainers, with special emphasis on three strategic areas—Law, Education, and Health—decisive pillars for the consolidation of the rule of law, the strengthening of institutions, and the promotion of social progress.

The meeting was also marked by an exchange of publications: APESP offered the work on the History of the Association and its associates, edited on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, and received three titles of particular relevance—a work dedicated to the life of President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, the book Estado, Sociedade e Conflitos (State, Society and Conflicts), authored by Ambassador João Butiam Có, and the magazine Educação e Liberdade (Education and Freedom).

More information on the follow-up of this important cooperation process will be provided soon.
