The APESP Executive Directorate received the Government’s draft bill proposal for the alteration of the Legal Framework for Higher Education Institutions (RJIES). This topic was debated at the meeting with MECI on July 15, with the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre, and the Secretary of State for Higher Education, Cláudia Sarrico.
One of the fundamental points discussed is the provision for two types of Higher Education Institutions: Universities and Polytechnic Universities.
The Government’s intention to proceed with the update of legislation related to science, assessment and accreditation, and degrees and diplomas, in conjunction with this revision of the RJIES, was also shared, leaving the revision of the higher education teaching career for a later phase.
