The Vice-President of APESP, Manuel José Damásio, participated in the launch of the project “Promoting Higher Education better adapted to the labour market: towards an improved skills projection system,” which addressed the anticipation of future skills in the Portuguese labour market and the need to align the offer of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with market demands, without forgetting their broader mission.
Manuel José Damásio highlighted the complexity of the alignment between what the labour market needs and what students desire. For the APESP leader, it is fundamental that HEIs work with extended time horizons and focus on themes beyond professionalization.
The event took place this Tuesday, January 21, in Lisbon, with the presence of the Minister of Education, Science, and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre, the Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support of the European Commission, the Directorate-General for Education and Science Statistics (DGEEC), IEFP (Institute for Employment and Vocational Training), and the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES).
