New Social Welfare System in Higher Education

Professor Cristina Ventura represented APESP at an event on the Reform of the Social Welfare System on December 16th. Held at the Thalia Theater, the reform was presented by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation.

One of the primary changes concerns the rules for accessing student residences and the support granted to students staying in them. Following the proposals received, the support for displaced scholarship students will be split into two categories: one for students staying in residences and another for those living off-campus.

The requirement for receiving support for private accommodation remains the same: a vacancy must not be available in a student residence.

Displaced scholarship students staying in residences will now receive support corresponding to the residence’s cost. In cases where residence accommodation is not possible, an adjusted amount will be granted to reflect the costs of private housing.
