Cláudia Sarrico attends the presentation of the Diagnosis of University Sport in Portugal

Cláudia Sarrico attended the presentation of the study Diagnosis of University Sport in Higher Education Institutions in Portugal, organized by FADU Portugal on March 17th.

This sector-specific survey characterizes the reality of sports practice within the university context and points to “the need for a new approach and the urgent adoption of support measures.”

The study concludes that 61% of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) do not have their own sports facilities. At the same time, 89% of institutions depend on external partnerships to guarantee regular sports activities for their students. Consequently, this shortage translates into significant logistical constraints, such as the scarcity of available schedules and the degradation of used spaces, limiting the capacity to respond to the growing demand for physical activity in the academic context, with a direct impact on the experience and health of the university population.
