António Almeida-Dias, President of the Portuguese Association of Private Higher Education (APESP), denounces to the JE the influence that professional associations and orders have over the accreditation and evaluation process conducted by A3ES, and advocates for a change in the model. In this interview, he considers that combining everything into a single Ministry is an integrated way of looking at Education, and highlights the main problems faced by private institutions: student slots/vacancies, the evaluation model for research centers, and the status of the teaching career.
