The Directorate of FNESPC – National Federation of Private and Cooperative Higher Education was received at the APESP headquarters, in a meeting dedicated to sharing their respective positions on structural issues of private and cooperative higher education.
Among the topics discussed, the urgency of a more inclusive student social action policy was highlighted, one that benefits all needy students, regardless of the legal nature of the institution they attend. This support should include not only scholarships but also equitable access to other fundamental measures, such as university residences, an essential part of the social action policy.
The fiscal injustice that prevents the full deduction, for IRS purposes, of education expenses in private education was also underlined. Families that fully bear the costs of their children’s education, while simultaneously contributing to the financing of public education, should be able to deduct these expenses under conditions of full equity.
A next meeting was immediately scheduled for October 2, with the commitment to continue this dialogue and deepen the articulation between both entities in defense of a fairer and more inclusive higher education.
