APESP participates in the discussion on the Strategic Pact for Health

APESP met with Adalberto Campos Fernandes, Coordinator of the Strategic Pact for Health, as part of the ongoing consultation process.

In a highly attended meeting, the importance of greater coordination between health, higher education, science, and innovation policies was highlighted, based on the conviction that planning the future of healthcare also requires planning the training of the professionals the country needs.

Among the topics addressed were the full utilization of existing training capacity, equal access to clinical education and internships for all students, the management of course offerings and available places, and Portugal’s potential to attract international health students.

APESP expressed its readiness to continue contributing to this reflection, arguing that the training of healthcare professionals must take on a strategic role in the future of the Portuguese health system.

The meeting was attended by the President of APESP, António Almeida Dias, and the Executive Director, Miguel Copetto.
